Hurricane Laura

Help send much needed comfort items and donations to aid in recovery and rebuilding efforts

Hurricane Laura Hammers Toward the Gulf Coast

On August 27 at 1am Central Time Hurricane Laura made landfall in Cameron, LA as a strong Category 4 hurricane, the strongest ever to make landfall in Southwest LA.  The small coastal town of Cameron was devastated by high winds and strong storm surge. Lake Charles, about 30 miles inland, suffered extreme wind damage and sweeping power outages spreading across several cities.

About the Storm

Hurricane Laura, already responsible for more than 20 deaths, is rapidly strengthening, gaining more than 30 mph since just last night. The National Hurricane Center has issued a warning that there will be "unsurvivable storm surges" with Hurricane Laura, and that in many places rescues simply will not be possible.
